The Bottom Line

The main purpose of this test is to reveal possible long term exposure to harmful toxic metals.

More than half of these metals are known to be toxic, dangerous, carcinogenic or have unknown effects on humans. Long red bars make it imperative to investigate possible exposure routes and consider follow-up with Water or Soil tests.

Evidence indicates that the Heavy Metals with longer red bars correlate well with levels of recent consistent exposure.

Blue bars mean your result is similar to about 95% of the population.

The Zscore

Z-Score is a statistical measurement of your results relationship to the population mean or average. A Z-score can be positive or negative, indicating whether it is above or below the population mean.

About 95% of the population have results that fit within the Reference Range. This reference range translates to z-scores that span a range of minus 2 through to plus 2. We use these Zscores to be able to visualise the results in a meaningful and comparative way.

Dive Deeper

There are links within your results that take you to further information. This information is being updated regularly.

All links are in blue. Metal name links take you to the substance profile on Toxno. You can also see other people's results by clicking on compare.

Additional information includes your actual result expressed as mg of the metal per kg of your hair, the reference range used to calculate the zscores, the date and lab job number and client sample details. LOD stands for "Limit of Detection"

Balance

Some of these substances are also essential human nutrients. There is a complex interplay of toxic heavy metals and essential minerals in the body. It is very important to have optimal mineral intake (magnesium, calcium, zinc etc) from the diet, especially if results indicate persistent exposure to the toxic heavy metals.

Heavy metals compete at the molecular and cellular level with nutrient minerals.

It is paramount to find the source of the heavy metal exposure and stop the exposure. Only then is it both feasible and safe to consider detoxifying.

Follow-up
Note that all nutrients have maximum daily intake levels called "upper limits", above which they can also become toxic.
If you have high levels of certain toxic heavy metals and suspect water as a possible exposure route, then download the water heavy metal test and send in a sample.
Other packaged test order forms will be added shortly. EAL currently offers a vast selection of tests. Use contact information below in orange bar to call or email for quotes and details. Alternatively go directly to the EAL Web Site.

EAL's analytical laboratory equipment

For nearly 30 years, inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) has been gaining favor with laboratories around the world as the instrument of choice for performing trace metal analysis. ICP-MS continues to make inroads into laboratories that are requiring the lowest detection limits and the greatest level of productivity. The primary reasons for the growing popularity of ICP-MS can be summarized in a few points:
• Instrument detection limits are at or below the single part per trillion (ppt) level for much of the periodic table
• Analytical working range is nine orders of magnitude
• Productivity is unsurpassed by any other technique
• Isotopic analysis can be achieved readily
